1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies when you visit a TalkAbout publication, use TalkAbout Live or My Briefing, subscribe to a newsletter, register for an event, download research, respond to a survey or contact us. TalkAbout is a Radar One Media publication. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the Radar One Media team operating the TalkAbout network.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
This may include your name, work email, telephone number, organisation, job role, country, topic preferences, event registrations, survey answers, messages, saved content and briefing settings.
Information collected when you use our services
We may collect device and browser details, IP address, approximate location, referral source, pages viewed, interactions, search queries, downloads, event attendance and newsletter engagement. Where you use TalkAbout Live or My Briefing, we may store the topics, signals and content you choose to follow.
Information from organisations and public sources
For business audiences, we may combine information you provide with company-level information, professional profiles or public records to keep details accurate and understand audience interests. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and you choose to provide it.
3. How and why we use information
- To provide requested content, newsletters, research, events and personalised briefings.
- To respond to enquiries and route partnership, editorial or support requests.
- To operate, secure, measure and improve TalkAbout products and experiences.
- To recommend relevant topics, stories, research and events.
- To understand audience trends and produce aggregated, non-identifying analysis.
- To meet legal obligations, enforce our terms and prevent misuse.
- To send marketing where you have consented or where another lawful basis permits it.
Depending on the context and applicable law, we rely on your consent, performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations or our legitimate interests in operating and improving a professional publication. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
4. Reader products and managed campaigns
TalkAbout.Tech reader products and Radar One managed campaigns are distinct activities. Choosing topics in My Briefing does not automatically enrol you in a client campaign, and visiting an editorial channel does not mean that your contact details are passed to a commercial partner.
For a managed B2B campaign, Radar One may build and validate an audience around a client’s target-account and ideal-customer criteria using professional, company and permitted third-party sources. We assess an appropriate lawful basis, maintain suppression and opt-out controls, identify the sender and provide a route to object or unsubscribe. Campaign records are not presented as a TalkAbout.Tech subscriber list.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to use of your personal information, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority.
- Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe route.
- You can reset saved topics and briefing preferences within the product.
- You can ask us to exercise a privacy right through the contact page.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
8. Retention, transfers and security
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose collected, including legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution needs. Retention periods vary by record type, relationship and legal requirement.
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use approved contractual safeguards or other lawful transfer mechanisms. We apply technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, but no online service can promise absolute security.
TalkAbout is intended for professional audiences and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children in connection with our services.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. Material changes will be highlighted through an appropriate notice, and the effective date above will be updated.
